I've been curious about this for a while, and it's always in the back of my mind when cooking. I like to think I can tell the difference, but I'm probably biased in favor of myself.

If you DO fake it, please enlighten us females as to why. Wouldn't honesty be a better option? If you're open about problems with the cuisine, then the both of you can work towards a solution, no?

Well yeah. I don't think it's really that uncommon among the gents. I do compliment her cooking all the time, even when it isn't great. It's my duty as a gent, but sometimes you've just gotta go for pizza on the sly. Don't get me started on sneaking trips to the foodcourt. There's a lot to be said for variety.

I would never lie and fake it. If it's good, then I will say so, if it's bad then I will say it in a...diplomatic way and sooth her injured pride and make a small comment on how to make it better.

Fake it, though? No way, 'cause I'd only encourage her to make the same food I dislike more often. If I have a life-long partner or wife, then Iwill be eating the same food, same cooking for.the.rest.of.my.life.

For me, I compliment a ladies appearance first. Compliment her cooking second. I think that's good for any relationship that a guy wants ta keep.

About 15 yrs ago I had an older girlfriend.. I had to fake certain parts of our fun times.. She had a really BAD smell south of the border.. But I just couldn't offend her by telling her.. Turns out we broke up and years later we hooked back up. The smell was gone?? I asked her about it and she said her EX told her she smelled bad.. She was mad I didn't tell her.. So I think honesty is the best policy. Even though the truth sometimes HURTS. Very Happy

Because you females start getting your periods right after we tell you that the food actually tastes like dinosaur crap.

Oh, yeah. Your new haircut looks really nice too. And no, you're not fat. Rolling Eyes

Right. The only things we fake are the part where we pretend to be listening, agreeing that you look great in those clothes, and your new hairstyle.

There are chicks that get it right, we just don't tell you about it when we see them out in public because we don't want to hurt your feelings or have you think that we're comparing you to them. Even though we are.

Yeah I've faked it. Only when she has initiated sex and when I don't feel like it. I have a philosophy of always rewarding initiative in the bedroom because I always want to reward good behaviour. It's usually when I'm drunk or tired and don't think the reward (for me) is worth the effort. So I pretend. It's never been a chronic thing though. If it were, I'd probably be out of the relationship.

Good sex cures a lot.

IMO, people pay way too much lip service to honesty in relationships and not enough lip service to selective and empathetic dishonesty. What you don't say can be just as good for your partner as what you do say.
