With all the fuss over US beef in S.Korean supermarkets. I wanted your honest and humble opinions on where you've had your best beef experience.

Steaks, roasts, mince...doesn't matter....

More for the well-travelled, well-eaten types on this forum than an excuse to chest beat...

I hear that the South Americans specfically the Argies and the Brazilians do a mean BBQ.

I haven't had US beef but I plan on changing that reeeaaaal quick. Had an Australian Rockhampton Rib Eye at the Outback yesterday and I must say it was a tender juicy beauty....

Beef.....OOOOhhhhh yeeeehhhh!!!

Argentinian or South African. Great beef from both countries, and South Africa has the best lamb in the world for sure.

Although, as a Newfie, I do love our duck. Proper.

yes

Rolling Eyes

Never been to Canada then I take it? Tender yet slender, rare but bare, niced when sliced.

I've had Brazilian beef and it's overrated. Canadian beef is so-so (I grew up in Alberta). US beef is nothing special. Best I ever had was Australian. Nothing else come close.

The problem with most american beef is that it is basically factory raised. Grass fed beef tastes better, and does not raise your cholesterol. The cows like it better, too! Cool

I'd like to know where people come up with this "U.S. beef is factory raised" crap. I suspect it has more to do with some kind of anti-American sentiment than actual reality because, after living in a state that raises a fair amount of cattle and after driving across the country multiple times, I can honestly say that you'll see cows wandering the countryside everywhere you go.

Edit: I don't doubt that there is a certain percentage of cows that may be "factory raised" but I honestly wonder why people place that label solely on American beef, which comes from a large country with plentiful amounts of grassland, instead of, say, Korean beef, which comes from an overpopulated country that is 70% mountainous. Which country do you think has more room to raise grass-fed cattle?

Kinda off topic, but what about Korean pork? I heard that in the countryside, they raise pigs in ditches that are covered and people take a dump in the ditch and the pig eats it. Several Koreans have told me this and they say the pork is much tastier this way.

It's a silly question. It's a bit like handing someone who likes Coke a bottle of Coke and Pepsi and asking "what cola is the best?"

If anyone can find a blind taste test of beef from various nations, I'd love to read it.

I was hoping someone might note this. OP invites nationalists (and ant-nationalists, in some cases) to wave their flags (and disdain others).

I have had excellent, good, mediocre, unsatisfactory, and terrible steak all over the world. And I have yet to dine with a partner who could tell me, from taste or "quality" alone, "this is Uruguyan beef, while that is Australian..."

I thought Kobe beef was considered the best in the world, but I haven't tried it. Is it moderately priced in Korea?

My neighbor from Alberta swears Alberta beef is the best beef in the world and that nothing even comes close.

In my opinion, I think US Black Angus is the best beef.

I also thought Kobe.

I heard Lotte Mart has some good beef with special toppings on it a couple weeks ago.
