You might remember this story which prompted a closing of Lotte World for several months. (I went there Aug 1 and I noticed despite the closure, nothing appeared much different.) Anyway, I believe the official story is the guy got on the ride drunk, used none of the safety restraints and fell off... the looping coaster. No one bothered to check his restraints were in place.
I've been kind of fascinated by what kind of restraint system this idiot totally bypassed. So I made sure when I went there I'd get some good photos. You'll notice it's basically a lap belt and a t-bar you pull down onto your lap. Most looping coaster employ a shoulder restraint. A shoulder restraint might have been pretty obvious to even a drunk Korean. But this t-bar mechanism might have escaped his larger notice. Also I noticed the loop (there's only one) comes right at the start of the ride. So he didn't really get to enjoy his ride long before he joined a long list of Darwinian failures.
And that new Pharaoh's Fury ride really bites down hard. What I find odd is there's a huge line system set up inside the ride however they make everyone line up outside the ride. The inside of the ride offers a lot of interesting things to look at while you stand in line. Although I suspect all the expensive eye candy is subject to vandalism. So maybe they had second thoughts about letting people line up inside.
You can see a youtbue of it here:

Trivia question: The music that plays upon entering the ride, which you hear in the video, is what? (I know. Just testing your knowledge of classical music.) |
