I'll be starting a new job in September and my supervisor mentioned something about a 3 month time limit on transcripts. Anything over 3 months old is invalid. Is this true? When I order transcripts, I always order two, just in case. Now is it useless? Will I have to order new ones? |

I have never heard of that soI think that it is not correct .... The main thing with transcripts is not so much when they were obtained ... But that they are in the signed/sealed envelope ... So as long as the extra ones you order are sent to you in seperate envelopes stamped/signed and sealed... and you don't open them .. you will be ok ....
I did this the last time I requested transcripts and they put each of them into a separate envelope and then sent them together to me in a larger envelope...

I just looked at my transcripts for you, both the opened and closed ones and there are no dates of issue on mine. |

I have heard about the 3 month time limit.
I had mine signed and date stamped on the flap of the envelope and on the transcript itself. |

Thanks for that. I think I'll order extra just in case. My school always sends them in a sealed envelope inside a bigger one. Except for that one time last year when the idiot student worker sent them in a regular envelope. Unsealed of course.
I just looked at the sealed ones that I have now, and there's a cover letter with a date on it. Dammit. |

I know about it only because I read about it on a fairly long thread about this time last year on Daves ESL. Some credible posters said they were rejected because their transcripts had an old date on them, others said they used transcripts that were old but they had no problem.
The end result seems to be you have a 50-50 chance - it just depends on the immigration officer who checks your material.
Good luck
PS: I am like you I thought it was wise to order extra to be used at a future date. I graduated from university 17 years ago, that will not change now, next week or next year, what does the date on the transcript matter? I hope we are not penalized for our outlandish (by Korean standards) pre planning. |
