Hello all,
I'm chilling out here in Montana, and I was thinking about making a trip to Vancouver. I would like to go there for many reasons...i.e...just to take a short trip, see a new city etc.
I would also like to know what is there to do around 4:20 p.m, and where can you go?
Cheers!

Go for it..
Your request is a little vague---walk around and look at the attractive people-I call it "Asias greatest hits."
If you have bad habits go to the Cambie fo a drink---buy some smoke and go around the corner to the New Amsterdam cafe whwere you can light er up.
SWaterfront is also good... |

Vancouver is a city well set up for tourism.
One's FIRST trip to Vancouver needs absolutely no preplanning. Seriously. None. From the moment you land at the airport there will be a lot of information available and handy as to Vancouver's sights and sites. And just ask people. Vancouverites are friendly toward tourists. Bus drivers are actually chatty! And remember you don't need to take taxis as buses or shuttles or legwork gets you to and around.
There are several recommending walking tour routes, and it's a city best seen on foot. Just follow the maps.
Enjoy! |

There's only two reasons to go to Canada...hunting and fishing. |

4:20 pm would be about the right time of day for your first trip to Wreck Beach.
Vancouver (BC, presumably, not WA) and Victoria are the two most beautiful cities in NA, imho. For anyone in the vicinity, its worth the visit.
Wreck Beach is out by UBC. UBC has some nice museums. And for those who want a cheap place to stay, there is a Canadian Youth Hostel near the beach, last time i was there.
BTW, this should have been in the travel queus.

Seattle is more beautiful the Vancouver IMO. I'm a former 7 year resident of Seattle. I always wanted to be so excited about Vancouver, but I could never ever feel jealous after visiting Vancouver. This is a positive thread, I didn't want to darken it with petty rivalies but honestly, at the very least on scenery, Seattle wins. Seattle's downtown is far more dramatic and the double whammy of the Cascades and the Olympic s give Seattle better scenery. There's just a bunch of details after this about the two cities that we can discuss but we don't need to now.
There is a trick that some trolls do when discussing whats good about the states where they compliment the geography without mentioning American's accomplishments that I won't try to pull off. Vancouver is fine city and a grand city but Vancouver is Canada's LA and when scratching below the surface one can see some nasty scabs but thats out of the perview a common tourist.
If I were a common tourist, I'd take the recommendations here, go to said cafe's and load up and get a very comfortable rental care and drive to the Rockies where you can see the genuinely fine job Candadians developing and protecting their natural resources. End the drive in Banff during the summer where you can hit golf balls at elk while they graze on various golf courses.
I know Candains becaase I used to date one. Her last name was....Mackenzie! |
