I finally took the plunge and upgraded my daelim 125cc(drove it for 3 years) to the new Hyosung gt 650. I don't know anyone who rides but if anyone wants to meet up and go for a day trip that would be fun.
I'm still breaking the engine in but i'm sure it will be ready to hit the highway next weekend. Wow it's a fun bike to ride... |

I thought motorcycles can't use highways in Korea? |

Certain highways are off limits. I'm pretty sure all the toll roads are off limits. -Jeff |

Expressways are off limits but there are secondary roads that can take you any where around the country. |

Why does the whole "Why buy a bg bike when you can't ride it on the toll roads? Can you even get it up past 120?" thing come up so often?
Yes, bikes are not allowed on the big toll inter-do expressways. That's true. It's not as big of a deal as you may think..
... because quite a few secondary roads are JUST LIKE the massive highways. And, the nice thing is, they're usually empty! I have no shortage of such roads around here (just south of Seoul). Besides, a sportbike is more intended for the twisties - mountainous roads with many turns. Let me assure you, there are many mountains in Korea and, consequently, many fun fun fun roads for motorbiking where you can push yourself and your bike a bit.
You want evidence? two examples (Google earth's coverage is still poor in Korea)
Twisty Roads: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=37.569263,128.28244&z=15&hl=en&t=h
The superslab: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=37.02447,127.11472&z=16&hl=en&t=h (this one is okay for bikes!) |
