From my limited understanding, it doesn't matter who starts a fight, but who wins. The winner is at fault. A few months ago a Korean picked a fight with one of my Korean friends. The former threw his back out while frighting so my friend was responsible.
So, if a grown many randomly throws a punch at me and I put my head down so he damages or breaks his hand on my head, or if he puches incorrectly and breaks his wrist, am I fault? |

Yes, that's correct. You are legally responsible to properly tape your assailant's hands before they thump you. Alternately you can provide them with a truncheon or brickbat so they don't get any nasty chafes or unsightly bruises on their poor delicate little paws.
It's only proper. After all, we are guests here.
Or you can just nut them and run. |

The philosophy is that both aggressors are at fault.
Therefore each one is responsible for the damage to the other, practically it is the one who gets hurt the most who gets the money. |

This is true. Korea believes in defending yourself to an appropriate degree. I'm sure there are circumstances when this does not apply, but let's say, in a street brawl, they definitely stick to this rule. It doesn't really matter who starts it, just who gets messed up the most.
Doesn't really matter if you are Korean or what some people call "guests". It's usually the language barrier that stiffles your defense. I think it happens to immigrant guests in the states too. |

This is why you run like hell when someone wants to fight you. Then, late at night in an alley, when he's not looking, you sneak up from behind him, slide a bag over his head, and thump him with a baseball bat.
