It's such a waste that people get involved in religion and believe (and do) the most absurd things. Jesus (or at least the Jesus of the Christian faith) did not exist. This is not mere opinion. It is fact. And it's a fact that intelligent people have held for centuries. Even some devout Xians have been absolutely baffled by the lack of evidence for a historical Jesus. Check this out and click on the links at the bottom.

If you have any other links pertaining to the non-existence of Jesus please feel free to add.

Methinks I'll oike this thread. Yes, I agree that it is astonishing that people can fervently hold onto doctrines and beliefs that are so obviously false. Maybe a Jesus dude did exist. But he certainly wasn't the superman that first century adherents of the Jesus cult believed him to be. The Jesus of Christianity simply did not exist.

I believe he existed and that he like the hostages went preaching where it was dangerous and suffered the consequences.

One can make a strong argument from the letters of Paul that even he did not believe in an earthly historical Jesus.

I am not ruling out that a dude named Yeshua ben Joseph may or may not have lived. But the Jesus of the scriptures is a fictional character. If he lived and was followed by thousands of people, and was the most extraordinary person in the history of the world, why are there no historical records that mention him. Not a single manuscript or letter mentions this most extraordinary God walking amongst them. If he lived, and did the things that are said of him, how can this unprecedented omission be explained? It can't. The only logical explanation is that he did not exist. And herein lies the real tragedy of those poor fools in Afghanistan. What a waste of time and energy. Hopefully it won't result in a waste of their lives. It is, after all, the only ones they have.

Hopefully, Justice will be served, in accordance with international law, Afghan laws, and Korean laws.

These Protestant/Evangelical types should stop attacking Catholicism and the Vatican.

Evolution is a fact. It may not be the only fact, but the science is definitely there to prove Darwin's theory. So good luck with your new thread.

Stop it, guys. You're going to make Him angry, then exchange rates will get all jacked-up.

Darwin was not real. The Jews invented him in order to corner the market on vaccinations.

If you take a look at the evidence behind evolution and come away thinking it's a hoax you would have to be pretty damn paranoid. Now, on the other hand, when you look at creationists trying to poke holes in evolution all you ever hear about are the "missing links." True, there are missing links in the chain of evolution but the chain of creationism is a big puff of smoke coming from some guy who ate too many refried beans.

(Oh, and I'm a Christian too. Wonderfully paradoxical, huh? Smile )

Evolution is a fact. That is not to say that there is not some entity in the universe that we can label 'GOD'. Perhaps there is. Perhaps there isn't. I don't know. And the ajumma handing me literature on the subway doesn't know either. But if GOD exists, it is certainly not the barbaric and rediculous character of Hebrew mythology. That Jehovah punk as a real deity. It boggles the mind how some people dismiss Zeus, Baal, Odin etc. as obvious fictions, but believe that the Hebrew equivalent is actually a real character. Are we to believe that the Hebrews were the only people on the planet not to develop an indigenous mythology? Rolling Eyes

But there is historical evidence for Jesus.

You see, I've been in contact with aliens since I was three. . .while on the UFO, me and the enlightened beings were praying in tongues. . .then I was transported back to the very day that Jesus was to drink the hemlock, and the Jews were already discussing the fossil record.

When I got back, I was a changed man. Now I vote, am a member of a right-wing group, and we advise the president on internationl issues.
