car people: what is your favorite supercar?

when i say supercar, i mean supercar. mega horsepower, incredible speed, rediculous cornering, outrageous styling, and costs as much as a small island.

my favorite is the Ferrari F40. it's the definition of "supercar" in my book.

the new generation supercars are awesome too. so Pagani Zonda or Ford GT or Aston Vanquish or Mercedes SLR fans feel free to post your favorite! if it goes 200 mph it rocks...any Lamborghini lovers out there? which supercar do you like best?

Always been a fan of them 600+ horsepower RX-7's Twisted Evil

Supercar: $300k+

Superbike: $9-20k

^This is why I've never been a fan of expensive cars. They are only used for one purpose, to go faster than walking speed, and both are equally fast (to the average driver).

Ferarri Enzo, there was one for sale at MBK in Bangkok in 2006 for over a million dollars. I also like the Tesla roadster, but I don't know if it qualifies as a supercar.

Of course there's the McLaren F1, but these days the Bugatti Veyron has stolen my heart.

I was having the same conversation with someone today. I can't ride a bike, nor am I particularly interested in them, but I really don't see what's so impressive about going 0-60 in roughly 4seconds in a car that is at least 350000$ when you can do the same in a 20000$ bike. Heck, a supercharged Cooper Mini, at under 40 000$, takes 4.2 seconds (if I remember correctly).

Now, if we're talking BIKES. . .
My GSX-R does 0-60 in just under 3 seconds stock (but there's no way I'm a good enough driver to manage that) and it cost about $4000. Top speed is reportedly 175mph, but the fastest I've seen was 156mph when I chickened out.

Supercars are great fun to look at, and that's what they really have over bikes: bikes are damn sexy, but cars have so much more area and angles to style. A Ducati 916 or 1098 is gorgeous, but hyperexpensive supercars -- Aston-Martin Vantage, Porsche Carrera GT, etc. -- are downright breathtaking.

As far as bang-for-the-buck is concerned, there's no car on the street that can match a sportbike. Plus, I mean, really? Have you ever ridden a bike at 10/10ths? There's nothing you can do in a car that can match the insane thrill of rolling on the throttle holy hell it's like the hand of god pushing you backwards and then leaning over into a corner and wow that's fast and you're hanging off the seat of the bike running hard through the turn with your knee and toe sliders scraping tarmac and the world going sideways around you and you flip the bike upright after the corner and give it throttle and WHOA put the front wheel back on the ground because here's the next corner and it's time to balance the bike with the brakes and roll gently on the gas and scrub those chicken strips off on the other side. . .

See, 4000$. Supercars are an even bigger waste of money than I thought. I'll leave them to billionaires with tiny...

Sorry but cars are still faster. Bikes accelerate faster from standing to about 30mph but once the car gains momentum its over for the bike and even worst beyond 120mph/200kmh.

My Nissan Skyline does 0-62mph in about 3 seconds, do you know what it feels like to have all 4 wheels stripping the road for the first 1/2 second and the G forces pushing you into your seats? It is a moment of fury to say the least.

Nissan Skyline GTR R34 stock 0-60: 4.9-5.2 seconds.
Honda CBR600RR 0-60: 2.8 seconds.

Nissan Skyline GTR R34 cost (new): $89,500.
Honda CBR600RR cost (new): $12,000.

Want to get into lap times, too?

If you'll take the time to read my post:
As far as bang-for-the-buck is concerned, there's no car on the street that can match a sportbike.

Now, supercars definitely do tend to outstrip motorcycles at the top end. This is a virtue of the fact that they have much more horsepower and much more aerodynamic shapes. They also cost FAR more. I've never used more than 156mph on the road. . . have you?

And you ask if I've ever felt four wheels pawing at the ground. I have. Have you ever pinned the throttle on a superbike and watched the front wheel paw at the SKY as the hand of god pushes you backwards and the world switches to fast forward? Have you ever dragged your knee through a turn in a car? As far as I'm concerned, while cars offer performance too, there's nothing like a bike and they are by FAR the better value if you're looking to have thrills on wheels.
