| I contacted my travel agent today to inquire about flying to a multitude of cities over chuseok and was told absolutely every flight to the locations i inquired about was fully booked. say it ain't so! she suggested i waitlist for seats to open up. what are your experiences with flying over chuseok? do flights generally open up closer to the date? will they be craxy expensive? any advice is greatly appreciated! |

I have never traveled during Chuseok but in typical Korean fashion, people "book" flights but don't pay to confirm the flight. So you end up in a situation where everything is booked but "dibs" haven't necessarily been called on the seats. Jump on every wait list you can get on and wait for things to clear up.
On an unrelated note, a student canceled from my summer camp the DAY BEFORE the camp....So, I have faith that by Chuseok, you will have a seat.
Good luck! |

| The only decently priced flight I could find was to Taipei. I had 4 tickets to Beijing booked but the agency forgot to confirm them and then when they went to do it, the seats were unavailable. Their response to us, "Too bad." |

Always a problem in Korea for flights around Chuseok, Lunar New Year, and Summer holidays. I was able to get a ticket to Tokyo for 5 days.
Also the days of holding reservations seems to be ending. They won't hold them forever as in the past. For example JAL has insisted I pay for my ticket before August 2nd or the reservation is cancelled. This was rare in the past. Even on a waiting list I wouldn't save much money on the cheaper flights and wanted to be sure to get out of here for 5 days. Yes, possible on waiting lists. Ask how many on the waiting list as well to see. |
