one thing that i have noticed about teachers is the great conversations about things that are completely off the wall that we can have with each other.

i just had a conversation with my neighbor that went from politics (which makes everyone in the world angry) to ice cream (which makes everyone in the world happy).

how? well, you have First Lady Dolly Madison to thank.

most Americans will know this, but the rest of you might not. Dolly Madison was famous for throwing great parties at the White House. i don't think they were drunken debauchery parties; just huge social events with all the important people of the age from America and Europe. the Madisons were probably one of the most popular couples in the civilized world at the time.

furthermore, Dolly Madison was a huge fan of ice cream, which was quite a novelty at the time. this has nothing to do with anything, but her favorite ice cream was apparently oyster flavor.

now, here is the thing. what must it have been like to live in a time where ICE CREAM was the technological marvel of the day and something that could only be had by the likes of the President, First Lady, and European nobility? think about the first time you had ICE CREAM (admit it, the first time you had it you thought it was way cooler than figuring out the world is round or flying to the moon).

Don't let the K's know about oyster ice cream! They might not want corn ice cream anymore.
