Any fellow skateboarders interested in a meetup? I was thinking this Sunday...maybe around 1ish. We can get out while the weather is nice, have some fun, meet some new people, drink some beer, order some food...whatever....

So here are the spots I'm thinking about (I'll post pics of each spot later tonight)

1) Cult Spot--near Dongdaemun so it's pretty central. It's a pretty decent space and probably the most popular spot in Seoul if not Korea. However, it's totally over-rated. Chunky ledges, a box, some flatbars, and some gaps if you're into that. It's a good place to meet locals but is incredibly busy on weekends.

2) Suwon Youth Culture Center--A really big spot in Suwon. Ledges, box, flat bars, and a jump ramp. Lots of space to cruise around and really nice smooth ground. However, Suwon might be too far out for a lot of people.

3) Gwacheon SkatePark--A really small and mellow park in Gwacheon (Just South of Yangjae/kangnam). It has good ground and fun concrete obstacles. Everything is really mellow so any skill level can skate there and have a blast. It has a mellow pyramid, a tight flat bank, a fun box, a medium period and and nice short ledge.

If you're interested let me know. If you have any other ideas or places to meet up then mention it.

Let's Skate

Hey,
I've skated yongsan a bunch of times too...pretty fun but way too many passersby sometimes.

Anyways, this Sunday there is a big contest in Suwon at Suwon Chung So-Nyun Moon-Hwa Center (Suwon Youth and Culture Center). I believe it starts around 12

There should be a ton of people there along with a bunch of Korean pros and ams. There will be a girls s.k.a.t.e. comp and a men's "best line" comp. There should be tons of people hanging out, skating, and whatever. I'll be there so if you see a guy with red hair give me a shout.

Where's Yu-Bum-Suk to tell you guys how childish you are? This thread isn't nearly sanctimonious enough.

Ah, another staid, prematurely old, boring, young guy. As if the world didn't have enough of them already.

Or maybe you are the real deal, a really boring old guy, all grown up, and never going to grow again?

What is this about old dudes? There are many on this forum who are well advanced in age, doesn't make them any less boring than kids.....I mean others.

If that is directed at me, then you mistake my message, probably because it was poorly expressed.

There are many, many people older than me that are not grown up and boring, and there are many many younger than me who are. I think that JeJuJitsu is either young and boring or old and boring. Well based on his comments in this thread.

As if anyone could have mistaken the intent of the above. Regardless, I knew it was tongue in cheek but what the hey. I don't find skateboarding interesting (except for some of the airbrush art that some boards have on them, very nicely done), but surely that doesn't make me any more uncool than you. I can down a bottle of Chinese whiskey and do neat coin tricks afterwards, how fricking cool is that??

No, what means do I have to say that skateboarding is juvenile??? My kids think it is cool, if they saw me doing it they'll probably think I'm cool too.
