Ones made with Korean recipes, I mean? Rich, traditional Western pastries are very popular here. Even my backwater cowtown has a Dunkin' Donuts. I saw a Krispy Kreme near Sincheon station, and you don't get much more decadently Western than that.
Yet the donuts one buys at Kim's Club or GS Mart are drier, with less filling, and are more mildly sweet than saccharine. Any speculation as to whether Koreans can taste the difference? What were Korean pastries like before the introduction of Western donuts? |

Judging from the long lines at Krispy Kremes and the number of KK's opening up (2 in Myungdong alone), I'd say that they can taste the difference.
Then again, we can't be sure that they are either just intoxicated with the brand or lining up for a free donut, or both.
I suspect that Korean donuts were those deep-fried rice balls with red bean in the center. |

| Blah. Who cares about doughnuts? They don't do anything positive for your health, and they're not as fun as alcohol. |

Why don't you stop eating donuts, then? Gross..
You should eat more Van Camp's pork n' beans with seasoned pork balls like I do. |
