The Bank of Korea (BOK) reported that the business survey index (BSI), measuring manufacturers' business outlook for September, stood at 84.
The figure was up from 72 in August and 73 in July, but well below the benchmark 100. A BSI reading of 100 or lower indicates that the majority of respondents are pessimistic about business conditions. "Although the business downturn is likely to ease, manufacturers still feel that business conditions will worsen," said BOK economist Kim Dae-jin.

I am not very hopeful that Korea will improve its lot over the next 10 years or so. A GPD of 20,000$ per person, no way. Korea will be lucky to have 15,000$ per person in 2013. Korea's hub plan to tap the China market has one big problem in my estimation and that is China isn't going to want a middle man. With HongKong and Shanghai ports, why in the world make a stop over in Korea which will add costs, when they can ship directly to the Americas or Europe? The big Korean 'Vibe' one gets is quickly eroded after a year here, and the truth about the Korean 'Vibe' for business is quickly being met with reality and facts. |
