Hi, I'm leaving for Seoul in less than a week and I'm debating buying traveler's insurance for my year in South Korea. Is traveler's insurance neccesary? Do you have private insurance on top of your NHIC?
Thanks all. |

I would say no. If you decide to travel overseas while in Korea you can buy travel insurance for reasonable prices before you go at the airport. Or a travel agency. |

No...not necessary. Korean insurance is decent if you're a reasonably healthy person. |

We have private insurance because of my young daughter. Just want to be safe and because we normally go to the Severance International Clinic for anything major (those are covered by our private insurance).
But like jib says, if you are a healthy person, NHIC is good enough. |
