That's the result of drug dealers and anyone daring strict laws of not only Malaysia but also Singapore.

Just recently, the Singaporeans wouldn't let this Australian Vietnamese go after they found drugs in his backpack during transit. He was sent to death despite pleas from the Australian Prime Minister.

While I don't agree with corporal punishment, everyone there knows the consequences of being bad. Would be enough to scare me straight.
