Anna Nicole Smith's baby, Paris Hilton's jail term, Lindsay Lohan's out-of-control behaviour - Americans are saying enough, already.
CBC Arts
A survey conducted this July shows nearly nine out of 10 adult Americans believe there is too much coverage of celebrity scandals.
And 54 per cent of those surveyed blame media organizations for blowing up stories of little importance.
The national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press spoke to 1,027 adults across the U.S. during the week of July 22-30.
It found 87 per cent of respondents believe way too much ink and airtime is devoted to celebrities, while only eight per cent believe the media get the balance right.

I think everyone is fed up with celebrity scandals. Miss Hilton please disappear so we never see you again. Is is any wonder that children now grow up seeing these people as role models, dress like them, wear their perfume etc.
I'm trying not to be ageist here, as I'm sure when I was growing up there were equally bad role models, but it's just the airtime they get nowadays and the money.
I'm amazed that some stinking company will pay celebrities millions to 'pour out' their heart about being in prison legitimately for breaking the law. Who cares! I do understand that it was the media that made them 'famous' and it has every right to make money and chart their downfall, and any celebrity who complains about this intrusion is living on the wrong planet.
I'm still amazed Big Brother is still running in england, as it goes from race scandal to race scandal and the first thing you see on the front page of MSN is a whole section devoted to these brainless, talentless people. I just don't know what level of society the media is aiming at.
Please give us a break! |

Yep, let's hope Nicole really meant what she said and gets her act together.
Frankly I'm sick of hearing about celebrity scandals too, especially Lindsay Lohan. I don't get why such an overly conceited b*tch like her gets any attention or respect from anyone. Seriously, how'd such an idiot like her get into showbiz in the first place? Probably had to sleep with a few execs - and their dogs. |
