|

1. Get on a waiting list if you have nothing booked yet.
2. Odds are not that good that something will become available these days.
3. Many airlines are not allowing extended reservations any longer in Korea my agent said, so payments have to be made further in advance than normal.
4. Some say you can get a cheaper flight, even at the last minute online at certain sites - not true - try it - the likelihood of something being available online for Chuseok is pretty much nil and zero at this time.
5. Yes, you will pay more for a flight at this time - sometimes double the regular fare at other times since it's holiday time. Same as flying in Canada at Christmas.
6. Good luck! |

difficult these days. I was talking to my agent today. She confirmed a few things for me about what's happened.
1. Some airlines seem to have gotten upset with long reservations and then cancellations at peak times, when they should be full. That's why the reservation time is shortened now and payment required. If not paid by the date then the reservation is cancelled outright.
2. The increase in costs are based on distance. Short flights to Japan and China don't increase dramatically at this time, but flights to say the U.S. or Thailand increase a sizeable amount.
3. One year I had been put on waiting for list for anywhere for Chinese New Year. Only thing that came up was a flight to NZ - which was useless for 5 days, so just travelled in Korea.
4. So if you don't get anywhere travel in Korea, lots to see. In my case I have seen a lot of it and 5 days would be pointless for me.
5. Good luck to you. |

| hmm, thanks for your advice. i have requested that i be put on a waiting list through one travel agency. is it worth it to call around to other agencies and request that they also put me on waiting lists, or do our names go on one big list for that particular flight? i guess my question is, do some travel agencies have more pull with the airlines, or more seats available? |

| So when is a good time to buy flights/packages for Chuseok? Right after it ends? |

| Get on as many waiting lists as you can. There doesn't seem to be a limit. Just cause the website says it's available don't count on it. They do the same as in the newspapers. Not updated all the time. Call them and ask if available now. |

| This is BS. What the hell? No real escape during time off. And I was told that Seoul is not the place to be during Chuseok while any kind of transportation in, out, and around the country will be very difficult to get. |

Hi There,
It all depends on where you want to go....
I had to really think about this carefully....which place nearby is it not in Koreans little heads to go?
Then a coworker suggested Saipan.
He may still have plane tickets left at Zenith travel.
As for getting to Seoul I am more worried about coming back on Sunday but it should be ok.
Cheers,
Michelle |

| Also, there are still flights to Nagoya. It's the only place in Japan I could still find seats to. |
