I just have a quick question. I have my visa issuance number and am getting ready to send off my stuff to the consulate to get the visa stamp. I called the consulate just to make sure I have everything right, and they faxed me an updated application and an instruction sheet. The list of things I need to send on the instruction sheet was pretty much what I expected except for item three which reads as follows and is also the only line that is entirely in upper case:

3. CERTIFICATE FOR CONFIRMATION OF VISA ISSUANCE NUMBER. (사종발곱엉서빈흐)

I don't have any such certificate, I just have the number. What do they mean? I want to ask my recruiter but she won't be in until after the post office closes. Any of you (especially Americans) who have done this recently, let me know what that means please.

On the actual form there is a line underneath the title that says "Confirmation of visa issuance number:" Should I just write my visa issuance number there or do I need this "certificate"??

Thanks for any help

Just write the number in and see if it works.
As you pointed out you don't have a certificate.
Doesn't look like you have a choice.

If you send it they will likely process it.
If you ask there is a chance they will say no.

I'm being a smart alack, but thats the way things work in Korea.

Most likely the form was created before they emailed numbers and sent an actual certificate. Now, everyone uses the number without any kind of certificate.

I took my issuance number to the consulate in Atlanta just today, and had the same question. The woman said all you need is the number, and that was all I needed. To be safe, phone ahead to wherever your going to confirm, but you probably already have what you need.

For most applicants from North America, UK, NZ,Australia, Ireland you can complete the E2 visa with just the E2 visa confirmation number. Just write it down on piece of paper and clip it to the E2 visa application form.

Several years ago before the electronic system was implented for the above mentioned countries the schools would give to the teachers the E2 visa certificate which was a blue document.

These days, most Korean Consulates can process with just the number buts some Korean Consulates such as the ones in South Africa may not be able to process it without the certificate that you receive from your school by courier if you are overseas now.
