hey all i did a search, but came up empty handed regarding my situation.
i would like to work at my school for an additional month after my contract expires. my contract finishes in exactly one month and i have about 5 more weeks on my visa. i want to extend my contract AND visa by one month. do i just go to immigration and ask for an extension? do i need to have a new contract? can i only have a one month contract? has anyone done this before? does anyone know if this can be done?

If i CAN"T do this, how easy do you think it would be to get work in seoul for a month on a tourist visa?

Woo hoo, I'm in the same boat. I'm curious about this as well.

I do know that if you take your plane ticket to immigration and pay a slight fee, you can get a visa extension until the date you depart. That's what I did last year, but I only left a few days after my visa expired. I think this is good for up to 30 days after your visa expires, but I'm not sure. There is also probably a way to extend it w/out showing the plane ticket.

Last year i extended my visa for one month. All that happened is that i explained to the director what i wanted to do. he was happy because he got me for an extra month right so he just went down to immigration with my passport and alien card and all that happens is they write something down on the back of your card that says you have extended. No problesm. I'm not sure what the limit of extension is though??

You need to take an amended contract, that is your current contract with the new finish date on it, to immigration along with your alien card.
Fill out a new E2 form and explain what you want... 30 K if memory serves, but the school should do it for you.
