I went to a larger store in another town and there were
a zillion kinds of soy sauce. I skipped over one brand
because it had MSG, but that still left quite a few.

I think Kikkoman is the best tasting as well - don't know about MSG though. |

I was curious too, and a quick google of the terms reveals that 진 soy sauce is a good general soy sauce for fried rice and such, whereas 양조 is good for dipping raw fish. 조선 soy sauce is the same as 국 soy sauce and is good for soups as the name implies. I guess 조림 soy sauce is good for 조림 which is a variety of sidedish that's kinda hard to explain and you probably don't want to make (it includes those little brown eggs and that vegetable that looks like Honeycomb cereal). I dunno about the rest or about specific brands. They sure do give a lot of variety, though, don't they?

I'm not Robin Williams looking at coffee. I did look up the words in my dictionary and did get the general purpose
sauce. I was just curious.
What do the numbers like F-3 and 701 mean?
Is it like Hienz 57 or formula 409? Just a brand name?
Is there an F-2 sauce for foreigners married to Koreans?
I didn't see an E-2 sauce for me.
Thanks for the replies. |

I've noticed that some foods have a very obvious MSG label. I appreciate it. I think MSG makes food taste funny. |
