woops, I mean Americans.....
Haitham Sabah Shaker Mohammed al-Badri, the group's Salahuddin province emir, was killed in a U.S. operation east of Samarra on Thursday, the military said He also was responsible for the June 13 bombing that toppled the Askariya shrine's twin minarets, it said.
Rear Adm. Mark Fox, a U.S. military spokesman, said al-Badri had been among insurgents spotted by U.S. aircraft moving into "tactical fighting positions."
"From the surveillance that was going on,

it looked like they were setting up an ambush," he told reporters in the heavily guarded Green Zone. "So they brought in rotary wing and close air support and there was some strafing that occurred from helicopters."
"Al-Badri's body was positively identified by close associates and family members," Fox said.
Another 80 suspected insurgents were detained in U.S. and Iraqi raids in the Samarra area over the past week, the U.S. military said in a statement. More than 1,000 Iraqi soldiers and police took part in the giant operation, backed by U.S. paratroopers, it said. |

Good. America made their mess. They should clean their mess up. This strategy has been employed by Israel too. Kill their leaders. That's worked well for them over the last 60 years and have brought them peace. Because people don't have children and children don't become men and then don't become new leaders with chips on their shoulder. |

Targeted killing does in fact work. Israel did a good job knocking out the military ability of Hamas with it.
If Israel had the ability to kill of the leader of the many regimes in the mideast they would have been even more successful. They were not powerful enough to do it.
Of course mideast regimes have done targeted killings for a long time with lots of success.
If the US has this then the US will be able to put it into practice like it has never been done before.

No it doesn't. No they didn't.
No and no.
Great idea! I JUST know the current regime in the White House would have the wisdom and moral fiber to use such a power wisely. |

Where is your info that says so.
How many times has Israel been hit by suicide bombings as of late? Not only by Hamas but also by Islamic Jihad? In fact targeted killings shattered the military power of Hamas.
They have also been successfully used by Israel's enemies to destroy any opposition.
One thing about you TWG is that you have zero info that backs up any of your views. You are truly uninformed (and that is probably by your own choice) You are a good cartoonist but that is where it ends.
Why you say so?

Well something has got to be done about the way the mid east.
Better than your ( paraphrase) "you are just going to have to tolerate low level and occasionally high level war against you". Sorry TWG. |

Canadians loses track of weapons for Iraqi forces
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon cannot account for 190,000 AK-47 rifles and pistols given to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005, or about half the weapons earmarked for soldiers and police, according to a government report.

And it's worked so amazingly well Israel's enemies have sued for peace? Oh, right, new leaders have simply stepped into their places and keep on killin'. |

As imitation is the sincerest form of flattery......I am flattered mindmetoo.
And a question....are Canadians growing a backbone now that your other neighbor, Russia, is claiming the Arctic?
I certainly hope so. |

a different situation and also Israel isn't powerful to get to the most of the leaders of their enemies. I mean they didn't get Assad , Khomeni or Saddam Hussein.
But if you want to know it did soften up the PLO and it also weakened Hamas. You see nowaday a lot of the best bomb makers and military strategists that both Hamas and Islamic Jihad had are simply not around any more. When terrorists groups lose their supporters , leaders and strategists they might be around but they are no where near as effective.
If Israel was able to soften up Hamas then then the US will be able to soften up Al Qaeda and other groups. If the US gets the elties and the clerics who call for holy war things will be different. Besides you leave out that mideast regimes have successfully used targeted killings.
Also mideast regimes are police states the governments in the mideast have excellent security services so if the governments are afraid then they will lop off the heads of the Al Qaeda supporters or else bury them alive. IF the US has the correct weapons systems it can make the leaders of mideast states afraid and force them into turning their security services against the terrorists. Give you an example Syria has turned a blind eye to terrorists going into Iraq from Syria. However if Assad thought that his life and or his regime was in danger because of it he might take some action.
This is war and the US ought to do whatever it takes to force Al Qaedists , Bathists and Khomeni supporters to quit their war In fact it is the obligation of the US government to its citizens to do so. |

No, there is no war. That only happens between nations. Al-Qaeda is not a nation. It's a small group of extremists who got lucky because the Bush admin was asleep at the wheel.
See, you openly support murder and torture, so I don't see why you keep balking at the genocide you know full well you'll have to commit in order to reach your goals. |
