Deodarent is too expensive over here.

Apparently westeners smell more because we've got so much underarm hair for stale sweat to cling to. So, is it wise to shave your underarm hair? I don't see how the unibrow problem could occur because that would entail your underarm hair growing across your chest.

Korean girls wouldn't even notice, right? Ultimately, this question is about which you prefer more...smelling good in Korea and having a Korean girlfriend or being massively weird in a Western country with an embarassed western girl.

I know a lot of guys in the US that shave their arm pit hair. They work out a lot in the gym and I guess its something body builders do.

Go ahead and shave your arm pits. If someone asks, just tell them you do it for hygienic reasons.

But will it smell? Will I have to buy deodarant?

It's not a sexual reason I want to shave my armhair for.

Funny you should post this as I was seriously going to suggest this to you in the "B.O." thread after reading about the odor-underarm hair link. I'd say go ahead, or at least cut it down to three-quarters of an inch so you can still live in the world of normal people.

deodorant is a bloody inexpensive small expense that even if you doubled the price compared to back home you're still looking at a 3 to 4 dollar price difference, per month or two. Geez.

shave if you want, or do it for your korean girlfriend's sense of aesthetics, just don't blame cost on it, unless you nickle and dime every expense (then again the ten cent subway increase in seoul did seem to irk some)

BTW, shaving body hair stimulates future growth... so once you start, don't stop, or else live with the end resulting thicker longer group of hairs

and we smell more because Asians lack a certain hormone secretion, cutting body hair isn't going to do away with that difference

Ignoring the fact that you drew attention to my genetic spelling disorder that I've been living with for 8 years, the deodorant over here is pants and in really small bottles. Deodarant back home only costs 3,000 Won and it makes people stop and think 'who is that man that smells like he has a personality?'

The only smells I can get here are 'fresh' or 'vanilla'. They're all boring, I want 'Wild African Tiger' or 'Columbian Spice Trader' not some curtain softener.

I was gonna bring this up as part of the mitchum thread, but I forgot. Part 2 of my anti sweat plan (after rotating anti-perspirants) is shaving my armpits.

It works great, and honestly, how married are you to your armpit hair?? It doesn't look cool. It doesn't look "sexy." Get rid of it!! Who cares? It's not gay or whatever. It's practical. I'll be shaving it til the day I die.

Racetraitor- the hair up in there is really soft, so stubble isn't a problem.

I had my mom send me some stuff including deodorant. I have to pay to ship it here but I don't have to pay for transportation to a big city and I get exactly what I want.

Yes shave it. Men shave underarm hair all over the middle east, as a woman I prefer a man with hair-free pits to be honest. Underarm hair is not attractive on anyone, male or female.

i shave too but for the total reverse reason

i think products work better when the active chemicals or whatever isnt trapped in hair

when i figured out that i would be drier if it wasnt trapped in my hair, i started to shave and have been doing it for 10 years.

it doesnt grow back thicker

Bah! Shaving your body hair is "Queer Eye" levels of gay. It's one step from being Judy Garland.
