I have been waiting for my SMOE recruiter to send me a visa issuance number so that I can send in my documents and passport for visa processing. However, I received a "Notice of Appointment" directly from SMOE the other day and then got a mass e-mail from my recruiter saying that this Notice is needed for "issueing a visa instead of a visa issuance number". I had been under the impression that I needed that number as SMOE would have already applied for and been granted a visa on my behalf. I ship out in a couple of weeks, so I just want to be sure of what I am doing before I part with my passport.
Thank you! |

Notices of Appointment can only come from the public school system. They do work; I got my NOA sent to me in China so I could process my E-2 visa there. No problems depending on the consulate you go to. I went to Shenyang and they hadn't had many western visa applications before, so I got screwed on my entry status, but still got the visa.
So forget the visa number and just make sure to take the NOA and all other needed documents (contract, passport, 2 passport photos, etc) with you. |

Nice! Everything already seems so 11th hour here so I do not want to have to wait on anything else. Here's hoping the Chicago consulate can make this snappy.
Thanks! |

I you can get Ks to do things by the 11th hour you're lucky. It's usually the 11th hour, PLUS 55 minutes. |
