So tomorrow is an ever so rare day off ... what fun is going down tonight. I realize that posting at almost 8 might mean that people doing fun stuff are not sitting at their computer, but I figured I'd give it a whirl.

Cheers.

The English camps where I'm at are usually four days. I get Wednesday off instead of a three day weekend. I'm not that thrilled.

Is the 27th (Monday) a day off too?

It is at our school, and the new semester starts on the 28th.

I reckon many people would prefer to do "fun stuff" in front of a computer, rather than in a dubious juicy bar (or something) around intoxicated strangers.

On those rare "surprise" off days that I receive, I generally stock enough beer in the fridge to keep me going from noon, sort a plan for comfort food, and arrange enough computer projects to keep things interesting. (Sometimes that might involve only arranging porn torrents, but whatever.)

Scaggs, I hope you wasted your off day enjoyably. Or maybe you just got wasted in Geckos or something.

As long as you had fun. Cheers!

Maybe I shouldn't complain, but...we're keeping the holiday on Wednesday, teaching Thursday, then starting our two-week vacation on Friday. Why oh why couldn't someone have thrown the foreign teachers a bone by ending all of the summer term classes on Tuesday???? Sure, the school charges students by the hour they're in class, but we would have all been willing to throw in an extra day in the fall term in exchange for an extra 2 days off. Anyway, a holiday's a holiday so I'm gonna take off and do something outdoors. Enjoy yourselves!

All sounds cool. What kind of job is that where you get 2 weeks of vacation starting this Friday? Uh, I want that job. Smile I know after this August 15th holiday, I work every week day until Monday September 24th for Chuseok and then the next day after that is like Christmas week, I believe.

Aveguard, are you in Seoul or in another part of the country? Sounds cool to hang out with some other waygooks. Something I never get to do unless visiting Seoul. I am not around enough to get to know anyone though. I learned the hard way that when seeking overseas living, go for major well known places to live as to have a network of English speaking adult people in your life.

Half your luck - I am working today because the parents weren't happy about my hagwon having a 4 day summer vacation break. So just to appease them we are working today.

Sojourner, it's a unigwon--we get two weeks at the end of February and another two weeks at the end of August. Of course, more vacation would always be better!
