Has anyone else had 300.000 won taken out of their first three paychecks. I know its in the contract but it seems a bit crap to me.

I'm fomulating a plan to get it back asap but was wondering the lay of the land on this.

The point is you signed the contract. So, I don't think you can do much.

Did you forget to have your mommy read the contact and explain it to you? If you did not want the job as laid out in the contract you should have stepped aside and let an adult take the job.

It is a deposit you agreed to. Under the terms of the contract you agreed to there would be something wrong if the deduction was NOT made.

Yeah, my school took is taking mine out now. They never for the first few months, as I don't think they new the full contract.

Think of it as a savings plan.

My school seems a bit confused about the purpose of the deposit.
According to the contract it's a housing deposit, but they think it's a security deposit for completion of the contract.

I wonder if people who finish early get it back?

Its illegal.

Its illegal for them to demand an accomodation deposit, ot for you to agree to one.

Most schools do it though to cover themselves. the worst schools habitually never pay it back (hogwons).

Just another reason to get your own accomodation if you are staying here for more than 1 year.

You could see it that way.

That is...if they give it back to you.

Only it's not. The law only says that they can't do it unilaterally. If both parties agree it, there is no issue.

"ot" = "not"? Sorry to be a spelling Nazi, but it's kind of important here.
