|
|
I recently switched form Hagwon to public school; VERY much an improvement. I've met a lot of teachers who are holding down additoonal part time jobs at OTHER public schools, and my co-teacher tells me it's allowed. How do I go about getting an additional weekend or evening position? Should I go through a recruiter? Just ask around? What extra paperwork/tax forms should i be sure to file? |

I heard that in public school, you can take on extra classes, usually paid for by the parents. Can anyone elaborate on this? |

I've heard this too. I can't elaborate from firsthand knowledge, but a fellow GEPIK teacher said that the afterschool program is where he makes a good majority of the money that made him stay in Korea for 4 years. (50 students x 20,000 a month) - taxes = an extra _____. He drives a nice car... |

It's illegal to work a second job unless you have permission from your first employer and Immigration notes the second place of employment on your ARC. |

it's not really a second job if you're doing extra classes at your own public school. I'm pretty sure this is legal for public school teachers; it's after 2:30, but still within the normal work hours.
I know the person I talked to used it as a bargaining chip for re-siging, so I mean it's not always offered, but it's def. an idea for compensation if you decide to stay for awhile and the school encourages it. |

The situation you describe is not a second job - you would get supplementary pay for extra classes (more than 22/week). |
