| Been to Seattle. It's a really beautiful city with stunning scenery and wonderful architecture. I was surprised how sophisticated and lively it was. Definitely one of my favorite cities in the US. |

| I've ridden in a Boeing and I've got Windows installed on my computer. Never been to a Starbucks, though. |

being part of the punk/hardcore scene in vancouver often enforced regular visits to seattle. i have many friends and an aunt/uncle there.
some things i love about seattle:
the hardcore bands. there's tons of good bands there that don't wear sweaters and play crappy fender guitars.
the downtown area- so many cool buildings and nice places to shop. record stores, clothing stores. good architecture.
the coastline is beautiful. deception pass is incredible.
bellingham is also a nice mid-sized city.
yeah. washington state is nice. |

The Gorge is the most super rockinest place to see a concert.
Go there. |

The area around the highway between Ellensburg and Yakima reminds me of the badlands of some cowboy movie.
The Puget Sound is beautiful and the islands that run from there up past the Canadian border are equally beautiful. I hope to have enough money to buy some land on one and have a boat to tool around in. That and a kayak. |

| Raised in Spokane. Also lived on the west side for about a year. Second the Gorge at George as best outdoor concert venue. Seattle's a cool place to visit. The state parks are awesome. From rainforests to deserts, hard to beat the great NW. |

| Maryland is much more beautiful, IMO. Never really clicked with the state. Maybe because of the Sonics. They were great at one time. Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, and George Karl. What days those were... |

Korean_Man has my support for this somewhat controversial point.

I lived in Seattle for 2 years before moving to Korea, and had been in Portland for several months prior to that.
Seattle: Possibly the most beautiful city in the US. Really stunning scenery: snow-capped mountains, water, hills in the city, etc. I also liked the way the houses in residential areas were usually painted in colors that looked good wet. I liked the grey skies and the rain and the overall cool climate, but it's not for everyone. I had a hard time meeting people and I think it's lame that public transit in the city's not better, but it's a terrific city with a high quality of life. Decent shopping, good location between Vancouver (BC) and Portland, airport's got a pretty good choice of flights, new light metro's being built... yeah, it's not bad at all. Good Thai restaurants, too.
Tacoma: It's done a lot of gentrifying and has a lot of the same appeal that Seattle does, but on a smaller scale and with lower real estate prices. It's a pretty big city in its own right, but its all one long narrow urban blur with Seattle and the surburbs.
Olympia: Politically uber-progressive college town + state capital = let's smoke up and go watch Democracy In Action. I like Olympia a lot. Not too exciting but good for microbrews and the occasional day trip.
Bellingham: Between Tacoma and Olympia in size, it's a really attractive small city and it's practically a suburb of Vancouver BC. I have friends there and always looked forward to visits. It's also a college town and very progressive.
Spokane: It's a lot like Tacoma but cheaper and in Eastern Washington. Nice enough, but that part of the state's too politically conservative for my liking. The Cascade Curtain is a very real phenomenon.
Pasco: Meh.
Vancouver (WA): Portland's northern suburban sprawl. Will be lots better once Portland's MAX light rail system crosses the Columbia River and keeps commuters off those bridges. Traffic on that side can be ugly (not that Seattle's is wonderful either). |

| I lived in a small town called Prosser which I didn't see on the map. It's 5 miles away from Grandview and nine miles away from Sunnyside. I lived in Olympia for a couple of years. Problem with Olympia is that there are to many hippies at Evergreen State College that protest about all sorts of stupid useless fucking crap. Environment one week, protest against meat the next, human rights and blah blah blah. |

| Having lived in Virginia, very close to Maryland, I can assure you that Washington State trumps just about everything Maryland has to offer and in a wider variety. Not saying this because I grew up in Washington (actually born in NY state), just stating my educated opinion having lived on both coasts and spent time in both locales. That's not saying Maryland doesn't have its beauty. In fact, I prefer deciduous to coniferous vastly. The color explosion... wow... Never been an eastern shore fan My white buddy actually got a minority scholariship to attend UMES. |

Riley and Dan the Chainsaw Man speak very highly of Ellensburg. (Was there another Wildcat too, riles? Now I'm forgetting. John Dmitri Negroponte was an EWU grad.) |

Well, never been to Maryland, but judging from The Wire East Balitmore is hard to compete with. |

| I love Washington state. I am from Spokane and love the summers here (Spokane) but the west side is so much more exciting. |
