Hey
Have to do a run to Japan this weekend. Has anyone done the trip in one day? that is, leave Busan in the morning, return to Busan later in the day? Did immigration on either side give you any problems?
any advice would be appreciated
UPDATE
perhaps i should've been more clear.. I just have a toruist visa that expires this weekend and simply need to exit and re enter Korea for my next 90 day stay to begin. I don't need to get any new visas, just the immigration stamps.
In this senario,,, would it be a problem?

I can only speak through my own personal experience, though policies and procedures may have changed at any time.
Osaka: Yes, one day was possible when I tried it. Had an early morning flight at 7:30, arrived around 9ish and was at the Korean consulate at around 10 AM. I submitted all of my documents and they told me to come back at 4PM. Was on a plane by 7 PM back to Incheon. This was done in 2004.
Fukuoka: No. If you grab a morning flight/ferry, you will need to wait the next day. If your boss is not paying for it, you can do a capsule hotel, stay at the Central Hotel through ready-to-go Kangsan Travel visa run packages, or like me, stay at the Khaosan-Fukuoka Hostel for 1300 yen.
No problem with immigration on either side. Just make sure to bring enough cash if you do the ferry run, as they do have a departure tax.
Realistically, you should give yourself two days and one night. It may not be possible to do single-day visa runs anymore. |

The one day visa run has been discontinued. You will have to stay in Fukuoka. I've stayed at the Khoasan hostel, and it's fine. The manager is a nice guy and speaks very good English.
I've visited rooms at the hotel that Kangsan books with. They were really small and I would personally ratehr stay at the hostel mentioned above, although the hotel is more centrally located.
Either way, you will have to stay the night. |

Central Hotel is crap! My room was mold-infested, stank like cigarettes and had a window which wouldn't open. |

On your update... no worry.... out and back on a new stamp... 90 days again.... no problem....
This is NOT what is commonly refered to as a visa run.... A visa run is the term USUALLY used when a teacher makes the trip to the Embassy to change their visa status (tourist to E2 for example). |

It's actually cheaper to go to one of the other small islands that the ferry terminal here in busan services. I can't remember but maybe takeshima. I think Kangsan can still book you to anywhere in Japan if you intend to go through Busan. Just go well before Chuseok. All the tickets will be sold out. And yes, just to renew the tourist waiver can be done in a day. |
