Report: David Lee Roth Rejoins Van Halen for Fall Tour
LOS ANGELES — Van Halen fans, get ready to "Jump." The rockers have re-formed with original frontman David Lee Roth and will set out on a national tour beginning in October, according to a report posted Wednesday on Billboard Magazine's Web site.
In its report, the music industry trade publication said Van Halen will play 50 dates in arenas across North America.
The report coincides with a news release issued Tuesday by touring company Live Nation and Van Halen saying the band will be making "an announcement of monumental proportions" during a news conference Monday in Los Angeles.
Representatives of the band and Live Nation would not confirm the band will announce a reunion tour.
Reports surfaced this year that three of the band's original members — Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen — would tour along with Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang, in place of original bassist Michael Anthony. That tour never materialized.
In March, Eddie Van Halen entered rehab for unspecified reasons. Later that month, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Eddie is quite f*cked up these days.
Check out Youtube videos to see how odd he's become.
His guitar playing hasn't been all that great either.
Roth is a smart guy but I doubt he'll be able to last 50 dates with Eddie. |

I also heard that Eddie's son will be playing bass and Michael Anthony has left the bad. What happened with Mike? |

It's pretty clear by watching recent vids of Eddie that he's cooked a good part of his brain with booze (and whatever else).
Tremulous, not together at all. Think Ozzie Osborne.
But if they're coming to a venue nearby, I'm SO there.
Edit: tour dates missing Denver entirely |

Eddie might be fried but Valerie isn't fat anymore. There is hope.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -August 9, 2007 - Valerie Bertinelli was used to hearing the f-word. F, as in fat, that is.
The 47-year-old actress is enjoying a career rebound since she became a Jenny Craig spokeswoman and pledged to lose 30 pounds, which she has since revised to 40 pounds.
"It's so funny," Bertinelli said. "If you say you're fat, all of a sudden people like you! I've never had so many people be so kind and wonderful and giving and loving."

I'm curious about the "new" Van Halen and their N.American tour. ROCK needs a kick in the ass and if history can repeat, Van Halen, could and should deliver! It may be awesome, and then again it may flop...What happens may depend on...
First, how Eddie and DLR are going to get along on this tour. In the press conference Eddie referred to him as his "new brother"...lol . We'll have to see about that..
Second, It's hard to imagine 16yr old Wolfie replacing Michael "Mad" Anthony's backup vocals...but as Alex said he does have the Van Halen D.N.A. .That could be good or bad...
Third, will Eddie stay on the wagon or fall off the wagon? The last tour absolutely sucked because he wasn't all there both "upstairs" and physically. He claims to have cleaned up his act since and wants to give the Van Halen fans "his best"...
I was a big fan of Van Halen (with DLR) in the 80's..in fact "Dance the Night Away" and "Unchained" are still a couple of my all time favs...but I was more of a Sammy Hagar fan throughout their ten year run after DLR's departure from the band... Their press conference on Monday was a blast from the past. DLR was, and still is quite the showman.
I hope they do well on this tour and maybe, just maybe, we might get to see them here! (WISHFUL THINKING??)That would be awesome! Even Better would be to see a "Best of Both Worlds" tour in a couple years with Mad Anthony and "Mas Tequila"Hagar back in the fold...
That's my two cents worth... |
