Anyone else using this as a last resort for the Chuseok weekend?
I'm sure its been posted many times, but whats the best way to get a train, ferry, and railpass to Japan.
Besides Fukuoka, Shimonseki, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo (all places I've been to a few a few times already)...where else would be recommended? (Sapporo being too far by train).
Kobe is the only other one I can think of - but hardly worthy as a single destination on its own.
Are there any popular beaches in Kyushu that Japanese would actually go to as late as late September? |

The Beetle Ferry ticket & JR Pass can both be purchased at Busan Port. Check the Beetle website for seat availabilty & waitlist if necessary to snap up any cancellations.
phone Busan Port 82 51 465 6111 for seat availability.

Or check vacant seat review at top left:

How about Nagasaki, Nara, Okayama, Kamakura, Kawaguchiko (Fuji Go Ko) or Nikko? The entire island of Shikoku often gets overlooked.
Jellyfish are a problem at some Kyushu beaches late August to mid September. |

Yea, good idea, the weather will probably be nice and I always was Tokyo dreaming since I was very young. So why not go to Tokyo? A flight would be better if available as it is fast and probably no more expensive than riding expensive bullet trains for several hours from Fukuoka. |

That map is not correct. I went by JR train to Nagasaki, & many ferries (eg Miyajima) are covered by the JR pass. I'd imagine that Shikoku Island would be too. Haven't been there... yet. |

The map just covers ths shinkansen, not all JR lines. I am pretty sure the map is accurate. I know there is no shinkansen goes to Shikoku. |
