the fact that korea's composite stock price index fell 6.92% in one day has me a little bit concerned. should i be thinking about moving my savings to a more stable currency, or do i just need to relax and let the market straighten itself out?

the two are not always related. For instance, the nikkei dropped a lot today (thursday) due to the yen gaining on the dollar. Also, every stock market was hit hard today.

So i'd say no.
