This is on the back of my electricity bill. I understand section 1: won/kwh for each kwh used...but the rest is a mystery! Am I correct in assuming that if I use over 1,000 kwh / month I have to pay nearly 500,000 won?! I live in a small apartment. This looks ridiculous.
(sorry for the screen size)
Thanks in advance! |

The bill didn't show up, and I'm not sure that I'd be able to interpret it, but I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, and last month my bill was 17,500 won - I'm expecting maybe another 10,000 won this month on top of that. I don't think 500,000 could be right. |

btw, my electricity was 75,000 last month--I live in a tiny studio apt too.
The pic shows that 370 kwh is 62,000 won. The rest of the chart (not posted) shows that 1,000 kwh is 487,680 won!!! |

1st pic:
Electricity Fare Info
-Base fares for household use.
(The more you use, the higher the rates are.)
If you use less than 100 kilowatt hours, its 370 prorated and so on.
Where it's cut off: "The next 100kwh..."
2nd pic:
The first line is for household/regular users (the next for schools and businesses)
/Base Fee
/Summer (Fee according to volume consumed)
/Spring,Fall
3rd Pic
#3 For farmers
#4 For Household
-"Low pressure electricity"- Fare chart. Not sure what low pressure electricity is tho.
Volume/Fee in won (원).
Hope this helps.
ps. it's really expensive to use electricity in the summer, especially during the day. Turn your AC off.
The moral is to use less. The more you use, the higher your marginal use will cost. |

I wonder how many Kw hours a typical apartment air conditioner uses each hour set on 18 C? Like a rectangle shaped one mounted on the wall with a tube running out the window to a fan box. |

It's the law in Korea that the more electricity you use the more that you are charged per kilowat. I was shocked to see last month's bill. It was like 240,000w. |

This could be why my neighbors have each family member in their own one room shack with it's own meter. I bet each shack is registered as a farm also. |
