I've been thinking about what I want to do when I get out of Korea. I've already done Thailand, which was cool but absolutely packed with westerners. I'd love to go somewhere off the beaten path. You know, somewhere tourists/travelers/backpackers/westerners haven't discovered yet or just don't bother with (too out of the way/expensive to fly to). I was checking out a map in my classroom today and saw some little places in Asia pacific (some of which are real small):

Northern Marianas
Marshall Islands
Federated States of Micronesia
Phillippines
Guam
Solomon Islands
Papua New Guinea
Kiribati
Tiji
Tuvalu
Western Somoa
Tonga
Vanuatu

Any thoughts on what these places are like? Or, anyone know of some cool little countries out there that are still untouched by tourism? I'd love to find an inexpensive little place to chill on the beach for a month, hell maybe even get a job teaching English and stay a while.

the Philippines is not off the beaten path.

I heard Yap is dangerous. I went to Romania for a vacation once because it was off the beaten path and I was molested by gypsies. I never wanted to kill children before. I looked around for rocks to smash their head with and dumpsters to hide the bodies.

Philippines is fairly absent of tourists like Thailand. Even in places like Palawan, a well-known gorgeous place to go, there aren't many foreigners around.

Actually Philippines has 7000+ islands...and the few tourists they get, usually all go to the same small handful of places.
