I've been pricing digital cameras prior to my china trip. Has anyone bought electronics in Beijing and is it cheaper to buy something there or here? Just wondering. Question

Counting duty free and all that, it is probably cheaper buying it from China than Korea. BUT - and a big but is that you don't know if what you are buying is real or fake. That's a big risk buying these things from China.

If you are looking for a nice camera I would suggest a place called Camera City.

They sell REAL cameras, usually high end stuff. That being said, they had a small selection of point and shoot cameras. Also, there is no haggling over prices there. Whatever the price says, that is what you pay.

It's definitely cheaper than anything I've ever seen here in Korea (but then again I don't know many good Korean websites).

I picked up the Nikon d40 kit for about $500 USD. In America it would have cost me about $575.

The Nikon d40 kit (with carry case) runs about 420k won in Yongsan. They were still asking 500k at Namdaemun. I Picked one up for the wife about 2 months back.

The price for the d40 kit fell after the d40x was released.
