yes there is a lot on here about thailand but i heard there's a new airport open now and the old info is from the old airport

anyone done a visa run there from the new airport? can you provide some info about it?

also, the airport itself - where will one be, what part of the city - any info provided is appreciated, where to go, what to avoid, i've some info to find a place to stay but again it's based on the old airport

i've got 7 days to enjoy my visa run - would like to go over to cambodia if that's doable -

Yours is a fair question, but I think the answer is there is not much difference between the old and new airport in terms of a Bangkok visa run other than the scenery you see from the taxi window making your way into downtown.

The old airport was due North of downtown Bangkok, the new Southeast of downtown. Neither airport has viable public transportation options and I would recommend taking a taxi into downtown from the new airport (just as I would have from the old). Make sure you go to the officially marked taxi stand at the airport to get a legit metered taxi.

Sure, I stay at KSR. Take a metered taxi to the train station, take the subway to the carrefour stop. Walk north tot he embassy. Drop off in the AM return the next day for pick up.

To get from the airport, take a metered taxi if late at night, if during the day, take the shuttle bus.

Its still only going to cost you 200 baht from Koh San Road to the embassy. And its a lot easier, although it will probably take you about an hour sitting in traffic

from the airport get a taxi at the arrival section from one that has just dropped someone off you won't have to queue that way, INSIST on using the meter should cost around 300 baht to get to most places because it is a bit out of the way. If you find someone to share with the taxi will be cheaper than taking the bus.

I hated the koh san road too many people coming up to you trying to scam money out of you, I would goto the other areas like sumkumvit or china town.

Butlerian: With absolutely no traffic it would take just under an hour. At the time of day you will be traveling, I am afraid it would be highly unlikely that you could make it in less than 90 minutes.

Does the embassy in Thailand process it in one day or is there a chance that it might take longer?

I'm thinking about going this weekend and hopefully get the papers handed in on Monday and get the visa back on Tuesday...

possible? or should I plan to come back on Wednesday aft/night just in case?
