D.L. Moody once said, "Character is what you do in the dark."

So I wonder, what do you all do between time? How do you regiment your schedule? Movies? Making love?

This is where live seems to be of utmost meaning here, because, it's then that you think of the purpose of it all.

One nice thing about teaching in Korea vs teaching somewhere else or having a regular job back home is that there is ample "between time". However, sometimes its hard to find enough to do in that between time unless you have some other kind of serious hobby or interest (I do, BTW, have such a thing.. but I've known quite a few here who dont).

One interesting thing about this lessening of workload/increase of free time is that, almost inevitably, you might have made fewer short and long term goals in life. Even if you put the maximum amount of time into planning your lessons at work and doing a good job there, its just not that hard to meet your goals. So, well, for me at least, being here implies simply having fewer goals than I used to. Especially short term ones.

I think goals are good for being successful and completing many accomplishments. But maybe they dont fullfill any kind of a need to find your own soul... because discovering your soul/knowing yourself is not contingent upon external accomplishment alone... and that could be a real nice thing about being in a Korea and having more time/fewer goals. You might find yourself a little better...

For me, it's mostly smoking cogarettes, drinking coffee and working on various writing projects that I'll probably never finish.

When September hits I will be glad to be free of prep time that weighed me down as a hs teacher in Ontario-more workout time, more socialising and a whole of new stuff
