I don't know anyone who's done this but I think it's a great idea! Keep us posted on how it goes. |

I cycled from Jinju to Daegu and on to the North Korean border and then from there down to Busan and then around Busan last year in 7 days. There are no cyling paths on the motorways you have to use the hardshoulder, it is quite dangerous especially in tunnels..you need to be an experienced cyclist to do it in Korea as the driving standards here are very, very low. The east coast is nice as you can get off the main roads and follow the coastal route. Travelling from Seoul to Busan would be quite boring and you'd have to take b-roads to ensure safety. My advice would be take your bike to somewhere in Kangwando province and start there...... |

Awesome idea. And I like your brother's description of traffic safety:
Two dangers do exist: taxis and buses. Taxis ignore everything when they spot a customer. In their rush, they pull over to the right without first scanning the road. Buses perform the same careless driving maneuver, careening toward a bus stop when they see people waiting. Always be extra alert whenever you see a bus in any situation. Bus drivers do not obey any traffic rule. Crossroads, in general, are spacious. Traffic lights are always on the opposite side of the junction, sometimes a few hundred meters beyond the white stop lines where you must stop. Whenever a green traffic light turns yellow, stop immediately! Cross traffic gets the green light a very few seconds later. Given the huge dimensions of junctions, the poor cyclist has no time to escape.
Cheers and thanks for the post. |

My girlfriend's brother did. Took him 10 days but he went along the east coast and took his time.
I have his bike here now and I'm considering doing it too! |
