I'm looking for an after school program, but I'm also trying to hedge my bets.
How easy it to get permission to work other jobs in these programs, and will they kick and scream and be petty tyrants over LOR if I don't like it? |

I don't know if any boss is keen to give you permission to do other jobs. If you have time to work for someone else, then you have time to do more work for him. I get the feeling most schools vary with the principle. |

mindmetoo raises some particularly significant points. Ps staff in general are much less savvy about EFL in Korea than hagwon teachers - principals included. Imho - a ps job is best suited to folks who are looking for a year off. I've been happy with the schedule and my principal loves me - but I have never made a request that would end up on his desk. A second job will end up on your principal's desk.
If you are just into the coin (that's not a judgement - this time around I am here both for the coin and for the slack schedule) then ps might not be the way to go. |

You can make a lot of money at a public school. You may get an opportunity to teach after school classes and make an extra 500,000/month. Plus you finish at 4:30 or 5 which is perfect for teaching privately (provided you have the right visa of course  ) |

| The public schools I've seen in Gyeonggi and Seoul are VERY good about letting you work an after school program, provided it's an after school program for another public school. (basically, they see it as one public school helping another.) If you want to work at a Hagwon after school, that's a lot different. I think immi frowns on Hagwon moonlighting as well. Unless, of course, you have the right visa. |

I was told 500,000 won for a term which is 20 periods from 4:30- 5:10.
This is an after school program which I was not pressured to agree to but thought might be a good idea.
I wonder, how long is a term, exactly? |
