|
|
This is a really sad story about a family of five people, including a family of four, who died in a tragic accident at the Busan World Carnival. I rode this ride just 3 days ago with my friends and have a clear view of the ride from my apartment's balcony! Very scary stuff...

I hope the park and the ride manufacturer get sued enough that it'll send a big message to others about ride safety. |

In a country rife with ineptitude, Korean carnies are a frightening prospect. |

I agree with Yaya that those responsible should . . . well, be held responsible. But, please cut the "country rife with ineptitude" crap. It's played out and inapprorpiate.
To refresh your memory, a bridge recently plunged into the Mississippi River. The latest issue of TIME magazine breaks down each state's bridge and road situation, and reveals that the country's infrastructure is in very bad shape. (Over 60% of Washington D.C.'s roads and bridges aren't up to code). And two years later, look at New Orleans . . .
so quit with the condescension. |

Smee,
Don't forget about that poor girl who lost her feet in an amusement park ride accident in the US recently. |

The amausement park rides on a hill in Okpo on Geoje Island closed down three years before I went there because the owner was being sued for a ride fatality, the second time in its history. From my apartment I saw the rides rust. Rumour has it the entire neglected site will eventually be cleared away for apartment complexes. |

Yeah, it's true, it's an international carnival that has many english speaking workers. In fact, it's the english speaking workers who work the controls, while the Korean workers merely open and close the ferris wheels' gondola doors. So to say it's because of korean "ineptitude" is not only false, but just plain ignorant. |

How did people die on a ferris wheel?
I have never seen one where the cars? are so close together that they hit each other. |

Yep, the metalwork stands... you can see some of the taller rides rusting over the trees on the hill overlooking Okpo. |
