I found this picture in a recent copy of Vice Magazine- it's a great shot, wonder if it would have placed in the photo competition?

Saw a *beep*-hot ska band in Itaewon saturday night, none of this nu-metal ska nonsense either, old skool with big horn section. Being a former rude boy I danced my ass off. Apparently they are called Kingston something and play in Hongdae at the Skunk club. Anyone seen them before?

Cheers

i saw that dude in hongdae, or at least 7 of his friends who looked exactly like him.

and old school ska is incredible... anyone who doesn't like the specials, the english beat or any of their jamaican precursors has a screw loose.

op ivy, too. brilliant. it's the revivalist fashion fruits who need to be murdered.

Of course, the rest of the modern music industry is in it for the music, right?

Original ska such as prince buster were great.

The two tone ska of the specials was also great, but these days I hear ska attached to all sorts of musical styles.

I may have to move myself north of the han to try and find the place and the band.

Kingston Horns sounds right, I'm sorry I didnt get the full story, but it was in the middle of a weekend long bender and I was much the worse for beer. One of the band told me they play semi regularly in Hongdae, but I saw them in the "Old Seoul Town" pub, which is the new Space Club downstairs on hooker hill. He also said I could find out about them on cyworld.co.kr , but I am not well versed in Korean, so maybe one of you guys could look into it. If anyone does find out more, please put up the info (or even better PM) me. I would love to find a bunch of like-minded punters to explore the Seoul underground with.

Cheers

I didn't realise the old Space Club was open again. I haven't been up there in 3 weeks or so. It was under construction for so long.

not punk...but maybe just ghetto...

my friends and i are thinking off taking a mini keg up to hongdae and sit outside the clubs and drink...that way we still have the club atmosphere without the club price and with the added bonus of a beer bong. haha
