Mark your calendar for 7pm (sharp!), September 16 (it's a Sunday) if you've been wanting to learn to salsa but didn't know where to do it.
Me....Art Williams....the original WanderingSalsero....I'm starting an 8 week series of one hour lessons in exciting Cuban style casino rueda.
In the first hour you'll learn the basics of salsa and 'casino rueda' in particular. By the end of the send hour you'll kow enough to really be having some fun.
The Buena Vista Salsa Club is one of the nicest salsa clubs in Seoul (but actually, most of them are pretty nice). The floor, the AC, the lighting, the sound....they're all very good. And one of the best known Korean salsa personalities and promoters, "Spin", is also affiliated with this club. So it's a nice place hang out at.
The club is going to be promoting this event amongst their list so you can expect to meet some 'locals' but I''ve also had several of my teacher friends say thy're 'in' too, so....it'll be a fun event.
There's no charge for the lessons but I believe there might be a 5000/6000 KW charge for the 'door'. If so, then that'll include a drink too, so either way it's still a good deal.
I'll be posting more in the days to come. Feel free to call me if you have further questions at 010 9122 8095. If you want to see what casino rueda looks like, do a search on YouTube.com or go to my blog at www.koreacarruseles.com . |

I went to Buena Vista salsa club again tonight and had a good time again. It's a nice club and tonight I met 2 other westerners there. They weren't teachers. I know because I asked.
Point is, they said they'd heard about it somewhere. I thought that was interesting.
BV Salsa Club is linked to the subway station. From exit #5 you can actually see the underground connect to that "LG Building".
The casino rueda workshop at 7pm on Sept 16 ought to be a lot of fun. Every time I go to a salsa club I'm amazed and sometimes amused at how dedicated most Korean salsa dancers are. And I also always find that the vast majority of the women are reasonable receptive to dancing if you'll just ask them.
Actually tonight I had several, in a row, turn me down. But I kept asking and eventually found a partner. That's what you gotta do in any club.
Salsa is a fun hobby and casino rueda is even better. Remember....this workshop is free. |
