| How do I have my home internet connection established? I've asked numerous colleagues who all shrugged and shook their heads. |

Call your favorite internet provider.
Megapass, Hanaro, your local cable TV company, etc and have it hooked up.
If you have your ARC it will usually be done the next business day.
If you don't have your ARC, get it ASAP. |

Thanks.
Going to apply for my ARC tomorrow. How long will it take to arrive and do I need it to get internet hooked-up? |

If your school hooks it up in their name you do not need it for internet.
If you want it in your name you need your ARC (like you will need for most other things as well).
It typically takes about a week to get your ARC and next day service for internet hookup (sometimes same day - evening service if you call in the morning). |

| Yeah, I just asked my boss. Seems to be the simplest way to go. |

it always amazes me when the school isn't quick to help out with basic things like this. it would take a korean teacher or director about five minutes to call, set up an appointment and have it on its way.
tell your boss you want internet immediately. sometimes you have to hassle them a bit, but it's just so much easier if they take care of it for you. |

For future reference - KT requires only a copy of your passport OR an ARC and I did it myself with an Engrishee speaking operator.
I coulda had this shite done weeks ago.
Hope it saves other noobs stress and solitude. |

What kind of cost are you looking at for unlimited broadband in Korea?
How much for wireless as well? |

We just switched to LG Powercomm (XPEED): www.xpeed.com
We were fed up with KT's connections constantly dropping several times a day. Had tech guys here a number of times, but they were never able to resolve the problem.
LG Powercomm just connected our apartment to their network, and for about 25,000 won/month, we get a 10 MB/s connection, an Internet phone (can still keep our KT phone # for 1,000 won/month), and a free robot cleaner for signing up.
Had it for a week...connection hasn't dropped once, and it's much faster (and it's cheaper than the KT connection ever was!). |

Just about to post this number. They're great. Usually come within hours of calling them and you don't need to speak the Korean. |

Yeah, they came and installed yesterday and had to come back this am because the mf connection keeps timing out every 15 minutes. He did a ping, replaced the modem and cable and guess what - it's still dropping to ZERO every 15 minutes. Any ideas?? |
