Ok I been at hogwon for 8 months now, and as we know we all seem to have our own accomadation. Which i do and i am the only foreign teacher there. I have two bedroom apartment.

However they want to employ another foreign teacher, and today i got phone call from boss saying she will be here in 1 hour as she got new tv and bed. Plus she said something about contract, but could not understand. I think they are moving someone in here. Do i have a leg to stand on to say no to this. As was told i would have my own place, yet seems like could change very shortly. Someone moving in and maybe hours change.

Please tell me what can i do?

Maybe do a bit of dusting so your new roomate doesn't think you're untidy.

I'm making fun of you because completely non-descriptive thread titles are kind of a bete noire for me.

But really, what do you think? Look at your contract, see if it specifies individual housing and a certain number of hours. If it does, you've got leverage. Otherwise, I recommend a real feather duster, not one of those cheap ones.

Yeah, that's a bummer... If you signed a contract stating that individual housing would be provided, and now your boss is trying to move someone in with you, well my friend, you are being taken advantage of.

I can relate. The exact same thing happened to me when I first arrived in Korea (only my boss was trying to move in a guy). I simply said "No. If you do this then I am getting on a plane and going home. I did not agree to this" (at the time I was still adjusting, and not overly enjoying the initial experience - I seriously would have left). Immediately my boss apologized and said "No! Please! Don't go! You can have the place to yourself!" That's all it took for me. Good luck.

here the latest, maybe i being paronoid yet this is korean and hogwon boss.

So boss just came and said new furniture is coming. Can you clear out spare room. I asked what will you put in there. She was like new furniture table and chairs. Then she ask for key as deliver will be later. I smell a rat or maybe she's being kind to try and keep me hear. Its black or white. Either i am getting new furniture, or she moving someone in on the sly while i am at work. Man i am stressed!! and maybe time to leave.

Are you an English teacher or a Korean in disguise? Shocked Question

Just curious--I hope my reading comprehension hasn't deteriorated too much over the past few months...

If you are a Korean in disguise, then you're screwed..you have no room to complain...

only foreigners are owed their own places.

Sorry for my English. I was stressed out. Yes I am a English teacher. Story so far......
well I got home with new bed and other vaires things, yet the spare room is empty all but some curtains and draws. I'm just not too sure yet give it some time. As I'm thinking my hogwon boss is making it more like an apartment for two, especially with this huge table in the kitchen with two chairs.
Oh well i will keep you posted.

Please tell me the OP isn't a native speaker. Right? Even worse, he could be a product of the American educational system. "No Child Left Behind", my a$$.

OP, no shame in admitting it, but you are Korean, right?
