Is there a good time to be had in Seoul on a Monday? I'm looking for a place where I won't be 'the-loser-at-the-end-of-the-bar-by-himself'. Everyone else I know works tomorrow, so I'll likely be alone, although not sure. I haven't been out on a week-night in several months, and certainly not since I've been in Korea, so I have no idea where to go.
I have (oddly) Tuesday off tomorrow and I've been bored as hell recently, reading quietly at home like a good boy. I feel an urge to meet and mingle tonight. Where should I go? Somewhere in Itaewon, Gangnam, Hongdae???? Other suggestions? |

SEOUL PUB or NASHVILLES or THREE ALLEYS in Itaewon is always good for that. |

Yeah, Gangnam/Apgu and Hongdae won't be much fun on a Monday. Not after 10:00 or so, at least.
There's more likely to be some people out in Itaewon. |

OK, thanks to the two who tried, but after reading the meager response to the thread, along with my own suspicions that things might be dull anywhere in Seoul tonight, I decided to stay in. Not that I think Seoul is dead, I'm just thinking that it could possibly be a 'local hof night' type of place, with no major hotspots on Mondays...but hell, back in the States even in my relatively small college town there were well-known places to go every night of the week.
So, if anyone knows of a hotspot or two for future reference, go ahead and post it. I feel that any city with a metro area population of over 25 million should have a place or two (and Seoul surely does) to hit the town, even on off nights. |

I've been out many different nights of the week.
There are things going on everywhere! But it is predominately Korean-dominated. If you like little Korean hofs, you probably have dozens and dozens to choose from within a 5-minute walk from wherever you live in this city. There are probably 100s of people vomitting from drinking too much right in your neighborhood right now I'd imagine.
The mass majority of foreigners you'll meet in Korea will either be military personnel or hogwan teachers. Most of them, particularly hogwan teachers, have to teach tomorrow and won't be creating any scene anywhere.
Occassionally you'll meet others of course - people on business, tourists, uni teachers (with some great schedules), etc. Most of these people end up hanging out in Itaewon on weekdays - mainly because they have actual bars where you can sit on a stool and speak in English, you'll have pool tables, dart boards, etc. You have very few if these in the HongDae, Gangnam, etc - they exist, but you have to search them out, and you can pretty much count on other foreigners not coincidentally showing up at these places on their own on a rare Monday night.
SO...therefore...Itaewon is THE PLACE during Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays, even Thursdays. Most of the bars there will almost ALWAYS have foreigners around drinking on bar stools, playing darts, playing pool, etc.
Highly recommended were Seoul Pub, Nashville, Three Alleys...because they are always filled with longterm expats on weekdays...socializing...with a mix of people here on business or tourists coming through. You're guaranteed to always get into some conversations no matter what going there on your own by yourself - particularly on weekdays like a Monday like tonight. Geckos as well - but I didn't mention it as its a really big place and foreigners can spread themselves out very easily, whereas the other three mentioned are more cozy, small and conducive to meeting people very easily even as strangers. |

Was just out by Suyu Station, lots of 'action' there (Korea-wise). |
