Hi all,

A buddy of mine is starting up a comedy club and is looking to meet up with others who are interested.

So if you fancy yourself as a comedian, or would be interested in becoming a groupie for one, there's a meeting at 3pm this Saturday September 1st at the Rocky Mountain Tavern in Itaewon. If you have any questions contact Roger on 010-6873-7981.

No mimes, please - you guys are just creepy.

No better way to end one of those pesky western-owned establishments than a good ol' immigration raid and fine!

(says the immigration officer)

Guys, it's just a club. Nobody gets arrested for playing rugby or strumming a guitar on their balcony, do they?

In any case, it's just a preliminary meeting for anyone who's interested. I'm pretty sure that immigration won't be lurking in the corner waiting to detain anyone who shows up for a simple social meeting. Lighten up.

Wow, it's shocking how paranoid people are about immigration. They'll even construe any act of public assembly on the part of us foreigners as worth a raid. There's no answering the stupidity and the irrationality behind such beliefs.

By the way, thanks to Col. B for the post. I'm the organizer of the stand-up group. I had problems posting to this forum, and he stepped forward to help out. I appreciate it.

Please check out our group. The website is http://standup.meetup.com/12 and yes, it's a real group for real people. More people are interested than have officially joined. Check out the site and sign up. I'd like to hear from you off-line.

Yours truly,

R.

There have been a few stand up shows in Itaewon. One of the first shows was was put together by a Korean woman. Can't remember her name, but Liza from hiphongkong knows her.

^ ask the Busan comedy club about immigration...while nothing too serious happened to anyone, it was a less than positive situation.

The Busan guys got hit for this, as did volunteers for an orphanage.

Are we crazy to be paranoid?

Before starting to spout off about paranoia it might be wise to do a search about the Busan nine.

I'd like to see it...

But...are ESL teachers in Korea really all that funny? That's what I'd like to know.
