...worth it.

Also, is the (more expensive) Green ticket the way to go? Apparently they have sleeper cars and my sneaky idea is that this will save me the price of a hotel room? Way to go?

Also, any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I am going on my visa run from Busan and decided to make a week of it. where should I go? What should I do? What should I avoid?

Thanks!

Lots of people get annoyed by the title, and no one answers your question.

Also, does anybody have any good ideas about inexpensive places to stay (not too grubby, though).

I am thinking of doing a more rural thang as well...maybe a buddhist retreat. Cool

Thanks

I wouldn't bother with the green line, which doubles the price. Also, Japan is fairly compact, & the bullet trains are fast & can get right across Honshu in a matter of hours, rather than days, negating any need to sleep overnight on the train. You need to get a train from or to Kyoto<> Tokyo, to make the 1 week JR pass economic.
