Does anyone know if there are bamboo forests here? I've heard there are but no one can tell me where. If so, that would be on my top ten things to do list.

You can catch a bus or train from Seoul to Damyang. It may be more convenient to go to Gwangju first (a half-hour away) as there are more buses. From Damyang you can catch a bus to the park.

I can't find anything online, but when I went the woman at the counter said that buses don't run to the park until 11am. So, just don't go first thing in the morning.

I went there in the fall, and it was okay, but the trees weren't as vividly green as they appear in the spring. Damyang is a pretty boring place, even by small town standards. I'd look into planning a few other things, so you're not coming down here just for that. The Boseong Green Tea fields are another notable attraction that you see in the tour books a lot. http://wiki.galbijim.com/Boseong_Green_Tea_Fields But there again, you're going to a town with few redeeming qualities. Maybe head to Mokpo or Gwangju in the evening, have a good meal, a drink, and find a motel.

Dam Yang is good for a day, its a nice walk but just one day.
