My students took me to Samakhan (second floor) in Bundang last night. I'd never heard of it, but they told me there are two more, one in Gangnam and one in Daegu. This one is just down the street from Seohyun Station, within easy walking distance. The waiters wear really cheesy gold turbans and some of the waitresses wear veils. The menu is pretty large...about 90 things listed. It isn't very large, maybe 15 tables? The decor is not Indian, but there is a huge screen on one wall for the Indian videos of endless belly dancing.
We had the set menu on the right side. I had #84, another guy had #81 and a third had the beef curry. Each came with a bowl of rice with some veggies, huge pieces of naan and we all got to share a plate of shrimp with peanut sauce as part of the set. Each order was around W22,000.
It was worth it. Excellent food! IMO, it's the best Indian food I've had in Korea or anywhere else. The cooks are definitely Indian. We talked to one from Bangalore. |
