OK, I'm 62, look younger (no, really...I do!), American, have taught EFL in Asia for 7 years (last four in China), I'm looking to do one last year in Korea. I'd like to teach no more than 5 hours a day and live in Seoul, and not have a huge amount of hassle from the school. I'm a popular teacher in China, hope for the same results in Korea.
I currently teach kids and adults. BTW, I have an unrelated four-year degree and a TEFL Cert.
Will my age be a problem in Korea, and does anyone have a recommendation of where to work (the fewer hours per week, the better).
Thanks. |

You're going to have problems because of your age. Koreans say they 'respect' age, but that doesn't mean they want to hire people past about 40.
It is possible to find jobs, but you will have to be patient.
Public schools are more open to hiring older people. |
